Problems with VOB and Video_rm

My problems are this: I downloaded this folder containing two subfolders Video_RM and Video_TS. Now I Know what to do with the Video_TS and all, but I tried to have a peep before burning it using MPEGStreamrip, VLC Player a.s.o. but I wasn't able to open the VOB.files When I tried to burn a DVD using Toast it gave me a message that there is something wrong with the Video_TS folder... Could it be that the files I downloaded are simply data rubbish?
The error message says something about the files not seeming to be MPEGStreams and also Lost Sync appears in that message...

Help is very much appreciated.
Leif

(Hope this is what you meant Lynne with the thread about problems...)

Re: How can I burn this

When I burn a DVD, I have a VIDEO_TS folder, an empty AUDIO_TS folder, and a VIDEO_EXTRAS folder for all the other stuff. You can also have a VIDEO_RS folder in there, so just burn it with that also. (Also, make sure there are only ifo, bup and vob files in your VIDEO_TS folder. Sometimes the seeder accidentally leaves the md5 in that folder.)

Have you posted in the thread about the problems you are having? Sometimes others have gone through the same problem with the video and know exactly what to do to make it work for you.

What I meant was, post in the torrent thread and see if others are having problems burning the show and if they have any suggestions.

Also, Five has got a good suggestion to search this forum for VIDEO_RM also. (Sorry I can't help at the moment, I'm just here for a second.)

Re: Problems with VOB and Video_rm

Sounds like you might have to reauthor your disc.

Five had posted this link in an earlier thread...it might help:

Re: Problems with VOB and Video_rm

VIDEO_RM is a standalone file (usually a Phillips recorder)
Delete it and carry on as normal with the VIDEO_TS.You'll have no problems. No reauthoring needed you'll find

Re: Problems with VOB and Video_rm

Meanwhile I restarted dowloading it. I had a look at the VOB files now with VLC and it played, of course only what I have downloaded so far. i keep my fingers crossed that it works this time and that the files will play after I complete the download.
The video_rm doesn't play a role it seems. I also consulted some other forums and the answer was mostly the same: don't bother with it and burn the video_TS.
Thx for the help so far.

Re: Problems with VOB and Video_rm

you may still have a problem, depending on the mode you use on the standalone, See hereL
