Re: looking for new DVD player (PAL friendly)
MOst DVD players will now play both NTSC and PAL. Many will also play DIVX. My Philips does.

Re: looking for new DVD player (PAL friendly)
The key now is a PAL player that upconverts via HDMI and plays dvd9 discs...Philips fits the bill. $50 bucks at Target.

JCPenney has a Philips DVP642 on sale for $20. Plays PAL.
Is this a decent player? No members have liked this post.

Re: looking for new DVD player (PAL friendly)
I have that deck in the media lab, but not for my family room. It does not upconvert to 1080 via HDMI, so your dvds will look like shit if you play them on a flat panel tv.
