Re: 24 bit question
is it 24bit FLAC files? they should be playable using foobar2000 with the flac plug. If your soundcard doesn't support 24bit playback it will be truncated to 16.
as for putting them on an audio cd, they will need to be dithered down to 16bit/44.1kHz. do you have a wav editor? are 16bit files working fine on your comp?

Re: 24 bit question
Regular audio CDs only have 16 bits. So you could either downsample the files to 16bit 44khz using your prefered wave editor, or attempt to burn a SuperAudioCD. No idea what prog lets you do this though. Maybe Samplitude 2496, but I never tried it.

Re: 24 bit question
okay, to listen on your computer get foobar2k:
http://www.foobar2000.org/ find & install the FLAC plugin, then (hopefully) you will be able to play 24bit files on your computer. there is a free wav editor called audacity audacity.sourceforge.net go to preferences and look in the export settings, set it to 16bit 44100Hz (this is "cd quality"). make sure the dither is on highest quality. convert the files by loading from wav, then resaving to a new file with these settings. you will be able to burn an audio cdr for your car from the resulting wavs.

Re: 24 bit question
I take my 24/48 wave files and bring the into audition and dither to 16 bit but leave it at 48 .They seem to play fine in my car ,home, or PC. Is there someone with more knowlage than me that sees any trouble with 16/48 for CD ?Should I Bring it down to 16/44.1
There is a way to put the 24/48 straight onto dvd, but you will have to play them on a dvd player No members have liked this post.

Re: 24 bit question
You can of course burn any type of file to a CD as data, not that you can necessarily be able to play it back in a CD player...

Re: 24 bit question
Just a minor point: foobar2000 comes with flac support already installed. If you're going to listen to .shn files you will need the plugin from here.
You can also use DVD-audiofile to create a DVD Audio disc that will play the 24 bit files on a DVD player/home theater system (assuming your DVD player supports DVD audio). Visit this thread at tapersection.com to learn more about that option. Editorial: I wish that when people seed things at 24 bit theat they would also seed a 16 bit so that we wouldn't have multiple 24 > 16 bit sources getting put into circulation.
