vid player/codecs etc
ok, ok, ok, i was doing alot of messin around, deleting old files, getting rid of programs i no longer use and now my codecs are all fucked up, vids wont play right, reg rented dvds wont play right or they play but the sound is seriously messed up. anyway, id like to start off new an reinstall everything. anybody care to share what configs you have? from codecs to vid players. i currently am using a legally purchased copy of XP service pack 2.....suggestions?

first off, get VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ you don't need any codecs to play stuff on it, everything you need is included in the installer and yes it can play reg rented DVDs, too. beyond that, my codecs were haphazardly installed a long time ago! I can't remember how to re-install them all.
