Re: New lossles audio codec - TAK -

Shame on you, Aaron, you are able to encode and decode ape using xACT on your Mac.

I think the only codec I have seen that you may play on a portable is flac (and apple lossless on iPods).

Re: New lossles audio codec - TAK -

The Microsoft Zune supports wma9 lossless I think, and they will be adding FLAC support soon if they haven't already. wma9 lossless can be encoded with dbpower amp from .wav or with Windows Media Player with CDs. It would make sense that any player that supported the newer wma codecs would also support wma9 lossless.

I would stay away form the codec (wma9) which offers also lossy compression, and there is no 'stamp' on file what type of conversion was used.

Re: New lossles audio codec - TAK -

that's the thing with apple lossless, too - you can't tell bethe extension what the hell it is.. very confusing. Same with wma9 lossless.

Re: New lossles audio codec - TAK -

I agree that apple lossless and wma lossless shouldn't be used for trading, but if you want to listen losslessly on your personal player, those formats are great. Unless your player supports FLAC, then there is no need to do a time consuming FLAC > WAV > WMA lossless or Apple lossless.
