U2 6/17 DVD Playback

HI,

Prehaps some can help. I recently downloaded a U2 6/17 show successfully. Then copied the file to toast 6. After tried to play the burned disc all that I was able to see was a blue file box.

I know the file downloaded Ok, because I can play it off my hard drive usingg ffmpeg.

Thanks

Re: U2 6/17 DVD Playback

You might try asking in the thread if anyone else is having problems.

Have you ever successfully burned a DVD in Toast before? A DVD should have several files, not just one, so I'm a bit unsure of what you did.

first, do what lynne said^^^ re: asking int he thread if anyone else's having issues...

if not, and i don't mean to insult you if these ?s are *elementary* but...
Did you burn it as a Data disc, or a DVD-Video disc?
What format is the show [NTSC or PAL]?
What format does yer standalone DVD player play [NTSC or PAL]?
What brand of disc did you use? +R or -R?
Will yer standalone DVD player play both +R & -R?

Did you do it per the instructions on my site: http://u2lynne.sandsmuseum.com/burning.html The step everyone forgets is to hit the New Disc button on the bottom of the window and give your Untitled DVD a title (or not, I just like to say what the show is - default is My Disc)

check Lynne's link above^^^

the issue is: a Data disc is a good way to archive/trade a DVD show, but to watch on a standalone DVd player, you'll need to burn it as a DVD-Video disc...Toast has tabs at the top of the main window that'll give you this option.

Thank you for your quick reponse. I will try that method later. Will I be able to copy and burn other discs that do not respond or are those ruined? Due to space limitations I can not save all shows on my hard drive.

Re: U2 6/17 DVD Playback

When d/ling DVD shows via BT, i would recommend burning 2 disc for each show...

Disc1...burn in Data format--this is the preferred format for trading/archiving...that way, all you have to do is put the data disc in yer comp drive, copy the show's folder(s) to yer HD, and then burn as data to a disc for sending in the trade.

Disc2...burn as a DVD-Video for viewing on yer DVd player.

Re: U2 6/17 DVD Playback

I haven't grabbed this DVD, but I just looked at the file structure and everything looks fine. When you get the blue screen, have you tried just hitting Play and seeing if anything happens? The person who posted it doesn't say whether there is a menu or not, so it could be that it just starts with a blue screen.

Yes I did try to hit play, and nothing happened. But, I will try to burn on video mode. Hopefully, that will work

URGENT: Need help burning my DVD's!

Hello everyone. I am new to thetradersden.org and I recently completed my download of video torrents for Phish 12/9/95, 4/3/98, and 70vp 5/6/05. Tomorrow I leave for Vermont and MUST have all of these DVD's burned. I have no idea what to do next. My DVD burning software (Sonic MyDVD) won't accept the file type. Do I need to make conversions? Can anyone walk me through step-by-step on exactly how to burn a DVD after completing a video torrent? I have tried videohelp.com and other sites and nothing can explain to me what to do. Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Pete

Re: URGENT: Need help burning my DVD's!

I'm not a PC person, but I do remember researching Sonic MyDVD before for someone else and finding out it doesn't do VIDEO_TS folders (as you have found out). Go download Nero and read the threads in this forum about DVD burning with Nero.
