Re: Odd Toast 6 problem (Mac)

Verification is a bad thing in general with toast, it can make a disc go bad itself, DONT USE IT!

did you burn it as a "data disc" [DVD-ISO] or as a "DVD-Video" disc?

What? The disc is already burned, how can it go bad?

I always verify, but I haven't had problems at all (yet, knock on wood).

Re: Odd Toast 6 problem (Mac)

I'd love to hear their rational on this. If a disc is burned, it's burned. Verification is just reading stuff off of that disc. You aren't changing it. You can't change a burned disc!

But, if you'd care to post their rational, I'd love to hear it.

No, it's a mismatch error. It almost always happens within the first 20 bits too.

That's a good idea. I'll give it a try next time I try to burn a DVD this way.

No, I've had 10.4 for a whlie now, and had no problem. It also did not happen after I updated Toast. Very odd, I know.

Yes, I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that belief as well. It doesn't make much sense to me...

Thanks for all the replies so far!

Re: Nero problem

Many DVD players won't play RW discs, try it with a -R, they are the most compatible. I am presuming you are playing in standalones.

And Nero works fine for making DVDs from torrents. Shrink is for different purpose.

Re: Nero problem

DVD shrink converts a higher bitrate/higher storage capacity dvd like a DVD9 (dual layer dvd, dvd+DL) to a "typically" lower bitrate/less storage capacity dvd like a DVD5 (4.7GB dvd+r/dvd-r). then you can burn this file (video_ts) with whatever burning program you want. However, the Atlanta show you are talking about will NOT require this. It is already formated for DVD5 discs. Nero is the software I use and it works great. you just hit the add fiel button, drage the entire Video_ts folder onto the Video_ts folder on the main screen and hit burn. This sounds like a burner/player/media incompatability issue like others have mentioned. you should go to DVDRhelp.com and check for what media/burner/player works best together. it will tell you what media works best with your burner/player for instance. Good luck.

have you put the burned dvd in your computer? is it blank? ro does it have info? if it has info, does it play? if it doesn't have a video_ts and a blank audio_ts in which the video_ts has all the files then you are not using Nero correctly.

Re: Nero problem

yeah that sounds like your dvd not being able to properly read the brand/type of media you are using.
