Re: Durning a DVD
i'm *almost* positive it only occurs when burning a DVD-Video, not a data disc [DVD-ISO or DVD-UDF]...if i get some time ni the next few days, i'll run a few tests and see.

Re: Newbie DVD burning software question
OK, I'm ready to throw in the towel. Just downloaded the demo version of Nero. I burned a DVD following the instructions on videohelp.com. It plays fine on my PC, but WILL NOT PLAY on my standalone. I get the same "This type of disc cannot be played."
What the heck am I doing wrong? My standalone player will play any commercial DVD as well as DVD+Rs friends have burned and DVD+Rs I burned from my digital camcorder movies. But it won't play these discs burned from VIDEO_TS folders. I've got about 10 gig of video on my hard drive right now that I can't view except on my computer. I've got a friend who's totally into Pink Floyd who I would like to send the Live 8 set to, but I don't have any idea if it will play on his standalone. Help!!! No members have liked this post.

Re: Newbie DVD burning software question
Have you tried to do it however your friends did it? Do you have an external drive you can take to your friend's and burn it there? Or actually you can give them the DVDs you burned and have them rip it and burn it and see if it works.
But don't give up! No members have liked this post.

Re: Newbie DVD burning software question
Well hallelujah! Nero worked. Just popped a disc I made with it into my standalone, and the menus worked and it played fine. Guess I should have saved myself the trouble and went with Nero in the first place.
Many thanks to all of you who offered advice and help. Case closed: Mission accomplished! No members have liked this post.

Re: DVD software?
I'm loving RecordNow!. Haven't had a problem yet. And the DVDs I burn as data with extra stuff outside the VIDE0_TS folder have played with no problems.
