Could you recommend a good torrent cliet to use?

Lost a load of music and videos recently when my HD died.
I was using utorrent client before and went back to their 2.1 version before my HD crashed and was able to load all existing files with that downgrade.
Would like something not to technical that I could use to torrent the old files of utorrent but with a new better client that is not loaded with ads and malware.
Is it possible to use the old files of utorrent with another client and reseed them?
I was able to recover some data before the HD crashed.

Thanks for any advice.

With a few tweaks you can use uTorrent without seeing any ads at all. You just need to follow the steps listed here:

...and then make a couple more adjustments by clicking on Options and getting rid of the sidebar and maybe one or two other things.

Might be a dumb question but does it matter what utorrent version you use? Are you referring to the latest version?
I 'll check the links you provided. Just wondered about the other torrent clients and how much users prefer them over utorrent.

Thanks JackDog, I appreciate the help and advice. All the best to you and yours.

I use an older ad-free version of utorrent 2.2.1

Yes, I'm using the latest version (3.5). I've only used uTorrent and one other program that's not around anymore, but uTorrent has been hassle-free for the most part. The only problem that I've had with it is that the mods at Dime told me to use an older version to upload shows there, so I just don't upload shows there anymore.
