What does this mean???

I keep getting this message....
"algreen" IO Error No space left on disk, or cannot create a file that large (Errno 28) No space left on device.

I have plenty of room on my hd but this message keeps popping up once the torrent is at about 75% completion. Please help! Thanks

Re: What does this mean???

Found these using Google:

http://www.bittorrent.com/FAQ.html#fourgigfile

http://filesoup.co.uk/faq/index.php?...id=222&lang=en

What type of operating system are you using? My guess is that your hard drive is formatted as a FAT32 and this is why you're having problems.

Re: What does this mean???

I'm not too sure if its the Fat32 thing or not. I have downloaded plenty of shows larger than 4GB.

Re: What does this mean???

It sounds like it's having a problem with the size for some reason. How much space do you have free right now? Have you tried defragging the drive?

Re: What does this mean???

If you're using a PC with Windows: Try rebooting the computer. If its a Mac, ignore that and the rest as I don't know Macs.

Possibility 2: I ran into this problem when I had a FAT32 drive. The file I was trying to d/l (it was a .ISO) was larger than 4 GB. I was able to download torrents that were larger than 4 GB as long as none of the individual files were greater than 4 GB.

If you're using Windows then there's an easy way to convert to from FAT32 to NTFS so that you can have single files > 4GB in size but I can't guarantee it won't futz up what you've already downloaded (neither can Microsoft for that matter).

If neither of those apply, it would be helpful to me (and probably others) to know whether your computer is PC or Mac and what operating system/version is on the computer.

Re: What does this mean???

If this is the torrent I don't think the FAT32 issue is the problem, I would look at defrag like TheMamba suggested.

Re: What does this mean???

Sorry for the dumb question, but what is defragging????
btw the torrent in question is less than 4 GB so I don't think the size is the problem. Thanks for the replies folks.

Re: What does this mean???

pc or mac?
if pc, goto my computer, and right click on the drive having the problems (well, the drive with the files having problems) and goto properties, tools tab up top, and click "defrag now"
what it does is, when a file is saved to your computer, all parts of that file arent saved to just one spot on the physical drive. defragment will reorganize the drive so that the common pieces of files are closer together. it wont rearange any of your files location (files in any given folder will still be in that folder) you should run a full disk defrag on each drive at least once a month. it can take some time, depending on the size of the drive & how badly fragmented it is, so plan on running it over night or while your at work.

also, what bt client are you using?
