EAC Writer Error

Lately I've been getting a lot of error messages when writing CD using EAC.

Write error !

Write blocks :

Write error

For the past two months no problems at all but this error keeps popping up around 50%

What extactly is it and how does one "fix it"???

Re: EAC Writer Error

Poor quality media can cause that. What type of media are you using?

Re: EAC Writer Error

Its funny that you say Memorex, because I was having the same problem with them. Bought a 50 pack of Memorex CD-Rs, and about halfway through the stack of them, I started getting the same problems (error - write failed). I thought it might have been a hardware issue but I tried some other media and it worked just fine.

Best thing you can do is lower your burn speed, but I just chucked the Memorex idea and got my hands on some Sony discs, which are amazing.

Re: EAC Writer Error

That is funny because this was a 25 pack and hald way through I started having problems when had no problems with the first 15 or so dics.

Sony - I had a bad experience with them the last batch I bought. A 100 pack and 75% of the discs were deferctive.

Just bought some Maxells so lets see what happens.

Re: EAC Writer Error

Yea, that is wierd.

We can narrow this down to a manufactuer using Nero CD-DVD Speed. I know you said that you use EAC to burn, but if you have Nero, this tool can tell you what company is responsible for the bad discs. It said mine were made by "Prodisc". If yours is the same, then I guess we know, although that won't help you until you actually buy the discs.

If you don't have Nero, you can get that tool from here:
Nero CD-DVD Speed

Insert one of Memorex discs. Then just go to Extra>Disc Info, and it shows up in the information.

Re: EAC Writer Error

Burned a bunch of GD 1972 Euro tour shows using Maxells and EAC worked just fine.

I guess it was the Memorexs that EAC didb't like (but Burrrn had no problems)

That happens with the best of them paul. I got a 100 spindle of TY's from supermedia and only 5 would actually burn. Luckily the people are SMS are cool and gave me a replacement spindle, no fuss or anything.

BTW Maxells suck ass.

Re: EAC Writer Error

So far I've had good results with the Maxells - but I guess any mass produce item will results in bad apples in the bunch.
