Re: Converting .wav to .flac
Foobar can convert your files to FLAC (right-click, Convert > Settings...) (RainDawg's approach)
FLAC Frontend can also convert your wav files to FLAC (my approach) dBpowerAMP Music Converter is also capable of creating FLAC files (third party approach) No members have liked this post.

Re: Converting .wav to .flac
shntool is a handy tool http://www.etree.org/shnutils/shntool/
If your not big on using MS-DOS, you can use Multi-Frontend http://members.home.nl/w.speek/multi.htm or Batchenc http://members.home.nl/w.speek/batchenc.htm are very easy programs. I find Batchenc a very cool program and easy to use.

Re: Converting .wav to .flac
Honestly, using FLAC frontend is easy, clean, and does the task perfectly. That would be the recommended method. I do mine with foobar (of course) just because I try to have as few programs installed on my computer as possible.
Either way, you've just gotten a list of 4-5 things to try, so go for it!

Re: Converting .wav to .flac
I'm assuming that in the 8 + years since this question was asked, the original poster has gotten his answer, if not, I'd recommend traderslittlehelper, it's free, easy and will serve most, if not all, of the needs of torrent downloaders/uploaders.
