Dual layer DVD to 2 SIngle layer DVD,s

I just bought some dual layer dvd's on amazon. they are verbatum 2.4 speed ,20 for 38 dollars. They are dvd + type. I have a dual layer burner on a new acer computer I bought. I know some people talk about a program that splits the dual layer sized file into two smaller files so they can use single layer dvd's instead of the more expensive dual layer ones . Can anyone tell me the name of that program.Also seperate question, what kind of dual layer discs do you use,and do you have any problems burning dual layer dvd's? I have burned tons of single layer ones with not very many problems. Any help would be very helpful. Thank you .
