Re: how to burn a mkv file?
I'm not sure how to burn it, but can you please hit the Report this Post button on the show because the only DVDs we should have available for download here should be ready-to-burn DVDs.

Re: how to burn a mkv file?
Try re-writing the original file as a dvd with AVS video converter 3.5 or newer software.

Re: how to burn a mkv file?
AVS is a crap, and you get better result with a freeware: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDforger or http://www.videohelp.com/tools/FAVC

Re: how to burn a mkv file?
Yes, they may convert between PAL<>NTS. Both use HCEnc which is as good as free version of TEMPGenc, and it is more frequently updated. I don't know if TEMPGenc may transcode HD stream. Commercial version has a lot of troubles with H.264 format, so I expect that freeware doesn't support it at all.

Re: how to burn a mkv file?
MKV is a container format and has no bearing on how compressed the streams within it are. It's commonly used to combine an x.264 video and 5.1 AC3 audio track but you could put any old load of MPEG-1 crap in an MKV container if that floats your boat.
