taping tv with a mini dv?

can it be done? if so, how?

If your camera accepts a A/V input signal then yes. Check to see if your camera has an A/V in/out jack on it. If it's a standard 1/8" mini jack you'll need a RCA > 1/8" cable to go from the RCA outputs on your cable box or TV into the jack of your camera. Put your camera into playback mode and you should see the signal playing on your camera viewfinder. Pop in a tape and record.

For various cameras you might have to tweak the menu settings for it to accept the incoming signal. That is something you'll have to check in your camera manual. Some cameras don't use standard cables either. The Panasonic PV-GS320 has a proprietary in/out connection on the camera so you must use a Panasonic cable.
