Codec Pack
I've been trying to convert some 24/48 audio to 16/44.1, but I keep getting prompted that I'm missing the appropriate 'Microsoft PCM format (1)' codec. I've had a search around and I've found this Codec Pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...odecs_pack.htm
I was just wondering if anyone has installed this pack, and if it's all cool? It seems like a lot to install just for one codec that I need. Also, I have a horrible feeling that it might be a bit dodgy, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks. No members have liked this post.

Re: Codec Pack
What software are you using to dither & resample?

Re: Codec Pack
I was trying to run the files through Switch. I'm sure I've done it before without a problem, but not this time. I tried resampling in Audacity but when you change the KHz from 48 to 44.1 it makes the audio play slow.
Do you have any other recommendations? No members have liked this post.

Re: Codec Pack
I use Sound Forge. You want to make sure you are actually resampling to 44.1, not just changing the header/designation...not sure of the exact wording.
If you just "rename" it as 44.1, it will basically "play" it at 44.1, even though it's 48. It has to actually be changed to 48. Don't know if this will help or not. Maybe someone else can better explain it. No members have liked this post.

Re: Codec Pack
Use R8Brain - I used to use Audacity and had a few problems with 24/48 -> 16/44.1. R8Brain was recommended to me and was simple to use - it did the job perfectly.

Re: Codec Pack
R8Brain is certainly foolproof... but voxengo is pretty hit or miss if you want to try it in audition go to edit view, select edit>convert sample type, move it from 48000 to 44100, make certain it is set to stereo and 16bit (assuming that's your source), set quality to max (999) and hit okay. no dither involved for changing sample rate (only bit depth) but even when dither is an option it sounds better not to use it (!!shocker!! compare as you dare & post me a single 24>16bit conversion that sounds better with dither than without and I'll be impressed).

Re: Codec Pack
Better don't install any codec packs as they usually mess with the registry. For audio I recommend freeware dbpoweramp - see codec central for additional formats. Video: Haali Media Splitter + Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

Re: Codec Pack
It's converter as well, and you may resample audio. - although I prefer to do it in Audition.
